Clay Totems involves making small clay sculptures that represent personal symbols and motifs. The session is inspired by a pendant that my Nan gifted me when I was born which I wear every day. I encourage participants to think of their own similar associations and then guide them through making something representative of that.
For inspiration, I bring examples I’ve made (pictured), printed references and artist books from my studio including Elizabeth Catlett and Belkis Ayon.
The workshop is beginner friendly involving hand-building with airdry clay, with all materials provided. It typically lasts for two hours.

Taking inspiration from notes that have steered my path and process in the last few years, I led a small group of women through a series of drawing activities before moving on to building small handheld sculptures.
My aim was to build a space for free exploration and creative play, to nurture and nourish community. I also provided homemade vegan snacks for the group.

I'm thrilled to be a guest tutor for London Drawing Group. My sessions so far have focused on different ways for working with soft pastels including methods, tools and paper types with quick fire exercises drawing from some of my favourite artists work to get out of our heads and into experimenting.
My approach is open with an emphasis on embracing trial and error to find the most comfortable way for you to work with your materials.
From first attending their in-person sessions to joining their online lecture and drawing classes as they began to grow during the pandemic, it's a real full circle moment to now be working with the team!

Through June/July, we're running taster sessions including my 'Still Life Drawing' classes where we use still life setups to experiment with dry media including charcoal and pastels.
We will be launching 6-week courses later this year :)

I piloted a new workshop at House of Annetta for Losing a Home, a solo presentation by Paul Majek with an accompanying event series. This workshop explores ideas of home, memory and personal archives through paper crafts.
Participants were asked to think of a place that reminds them of safe place or home, whether real or imagined. I then led them through how to make their own simplified version of my pop-up books.
The events programming ran as part of Whitechapel Gallery's Backyard Biennial.

Lalah and I led a blended visual art and poetry workshop, encouraging creative connection, joy and self-expression at Doña.
I led the group through drawing exercises to relax into the space and get to know each other. Lalah provided poetry prompts to think about our personal interpretations of 'paradise', taking inspiration from Roger Robinson's work. The group combined elements from both to create acrostic poems and shared them with each other.
This was followed by a supportive Open Mic, where attendees could share work from the session or their own personal work. We ended with a powerful, honest and funny set from Tasneim Zyada.
